Medication
~ HEALTH THERAPIES~
We are fortunate to live at a time when there are more helpful medications available now than in the past, coupled with experience and research. Many people and providers turn to medicines as the first solution to a mental or physical health issue. While I value the role medications can play, I also know that true and lasting well-being most often follows from deep realignment and healing of body, mind, spirit, with emotional parts.
Medication is sometimes essential for stabilization and a pre-requisite for successful therapy. Medicine can be of temporary assistance while working in a holistic way to manage emotions and re-evaluate perceptions. My intention is to help clients move beyond “symptom” management into living a truly happy life... one that contains tools for self-healing.
Most of my clients come for medication management and therapy combined. I have noticed that when clients receive and practice alternative approaches to symptom management, medication dosages are frequently lower than the norm. This can help reduce side effect risk. Medications can be more effective as well, with the addition of alternative therapies and practices. This phenomena makes sense and is an observed result, and also reported by many people.
I do accept referrals from therapists with the caveat that I will work with the client in all the ways I know how until the client is stable and doing well. Once stabilized, visits can be less frequent and involve medication management with mind/body treatments. If you already have a therapist, it is advisable to continue that relationship unless you are seeking a change. I will work with your therapist to coordinate your treatment and to avoid duplication or confusion.
