My Backgroud
~ HEALTH THERAPIES~

Christine
Long before knowing I would join the health care field, I became interested in herbal medicine, massage and meditation. In my 20’s I lived in the Ozark Mountains, where I found an uplifting beauty and mysticism that led me to explore mind-body interactions. I was struck by the proclamation of Hippocrates, the “father” of modern medicine, that massage promotes the body’s balance of fluids, and supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Learning massage was my first step into health care, and I loved working intuitively and developed a meditative style of massage. In studying Physiology and Anatomy, I was in awe of the everyday miracles taking place in our bodies without us directing them. I often wondered what if we could consciously tap into this perfectly designed system in a way that directed the body and/or mind towards healing? During this time I began to try this out with myself, and had profound and significant results.
I knew at this point that my life path would be devoted to the exploration of the mind-body-spirit connection, both everyday and “miraculous” events. I was able to be part of spontaneous healings, my own and others – all resulting in positive physical changes. I now realize that physical healing is the result of spiritual transformation, and that spiritual shifts do not always lead to physical changes. I am fascinated with our human capacity for healing on emotional and mental levels, as well as physical.
In addition to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters in Nursing, I acquired a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I continue to appreciate Western Medicine while learning and practicing alternative pathways for healing through mind, body and spirit connection. I have seen that western and alternative approaches, when utilized together, generally provide more effective treatment. This makes total sense, since we are beings that simultaneously exist at all levels - mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. I feel compelled to and rewarded by the ability to blend medication management with psychotherapy, energy medicine, and various mind-body approaches.
